Proverbs 5:1
~ ""My son, pay attention to my wisdom"" |
| Thought: |
| "Paying attention seems to be a recurring theme in Proverbs. ?We can correct, ?counsel, and advise all we want but if our children are not paying attention what good is it. ?I need to remember that their listening to me comes from the love relationship between us, not how loudly I speak. ?When they feel loved by me (especially as they grow older) ?they will be more likely to pay attention to what I have to say." |
| Challenge: |
| "Today when I have something I really want my children to pay attention to, I will speak with a loving intensity, not loudly. ?If I am not sure they have really heard me, I will take the extra time (especially with my older child) and ask them if they understand, ?have a discussion, and make sure they have taken it in." |
| Prayer: |
| "Lord, help me to exercise the fruit of self-control and speak lovingly to my children today. ?Lord I need to take more time; ?help me pay attention and make sure the things I am saying are understood." |
