Proverbs 13:1
~ ""A wise son heeds his fathers instruction, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke."" |
| Thought: |
| "It is getting a little more difficult to make sure that my correction is being listened to as the children grow older. ?But I know that the key is through the relationship I have with my child. ?It is so important that ?mutual love and respect continue to grow as our children do, so that they dont ?blow off our instruction as part of thinking they are so grown up." |
| Challenge: |
| "Take the time to stop what I am doing, ?connect, ?and listen when my children share with me, so that they can never think to themselves, she never listens to me, why should I listen to her. ?Then when I need to instruct or correct them, ?stop, ?connect, ?take the time to make eye contact, ?instruct, ?check and make sure they understand ??why (this is for older children not little ones). ?And then, ?when necessary, ?have them repeat the instruction or correction back to me, ?so that we both know and remember what is said." |
| Prayer: |
| "Lord, keep me from just barking orders at my children. Remind me, ?in the moment, ?even when Im busy, ?to stop what Im doing and ?take the time to instruct and to purposefully connect." |
